These are the pictures I took with Olivia on the day of our shoot. I decided that the image I liked most and looked most suitable for a teens rock magazine was of Olivia posing with a hand on her hip and looking directly at the camera, and so decided to use that for my front cover.

Mise en scene...

  • For my magazines photo I wanted to keep the images cheery and lighthearted while still keeping the classic rock look.

Setting:

  • I made sure the setting my model was in was kept blank and free of a background, as this would allow me to edit the images more easily later on.

Props:

  • I attempted to use props, but decided that they looked unusual with the the look I was going for, and preferred to have no props so that the audience was not distracted from the model.

Lighting:

  • I kept my lighting very natural but bright, as I thought that with the dark clothing my model wore would look less detailed in darker lighting and I wanted the contrast in colours to be clear enough that it didn't look faded on the magazine.

Costumes:

  • My models clothing was a very classic rock look. I stuck to an all black colour scheme as the magazines I looked at were very limited in colour, and black is a colour often associated with rock, with white text on the shirt so that the clothing was not completely colourless and boring. I also asked my model to where a leather jacket, as it seemed appropriate for someone modeling as a rockstar. I decided that it would look better if her hair was tied up, as long hair on females is associated with pop more than rock, and the messy bun we ended up with worked better as combined with the leather jacket it gave the impression that she was more rebellious.

Make-up:

  • My model's make-up included very pale, limited colours that stuck towards the redder side of the spectrum due to red's consistant appearance in the magazines I looked at.
